Introduction

Railar Solutions Private Limited (“Railar Solutions”), a company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2006 and having its registered office at Kathmandu Metropolitan City 12, Kathmandu, Bagmati, Nepal, 44600, is the owner of the brands Railar and Karayo, and the web-based platforms railar.net, railar.com and the mobile application Karayo (collectively, the “Platform”). Railar Solutions is responsible for operating and managing the Platform.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use the Platform. References to “We”, “Us”, or “Our” mean Railar Solutions. References to “You” or “User” mean any person accessing or using the Platform.

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.


Children’s Privacy

We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. The Platform is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13.

If we become aware that Personal Information has been collected from a child under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete such information and restrict access to the Platform. Parents or legal guardians who believe that their child has provided Personal Information on the Platform may contact us so that appropriate action can be taken.


1. Collection of Information

a) Personal Information

When you create an account or place an order, we collect basic personal information such as:

  • Name
  • Mobile number
  • Email address
  • Delivery address

This information is required to create your account, process orders, deliver products, and communicate with you.


b) Sensitive Personal Information

We do not knowingly collect or process sensitive personal information such as health data, biometric information, sexual orientation, or medical records.

Passwords are used only for authentication and are securely stored using industry-standard encryption methods.

Payment processing is handled by authorized providers including Khalti and eSewa. These providers may collect identity, contact, and transaction information directly during the payment process. Karayo does not store or access full payment credentials.


c) Transactional Information

When you place orders, we collect transactional details such as order history, order status, delivery details, refunds, and customer support interactions. This information is used to fulfill orders, provide support, comply with legal obligations, and improve our Services.


d) Location-Based Information

With your permission, we may request location access while you are using the app to enable accurate delivery services. Location data is not continuously tracked and is collected only when needed to:

  • Determine service availability
  • Calculate delivery times
  • Enable accurate order fulfillment

Location data is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. You may disable location access at any time through your device settings, though some features may be limited.

We may also collect IP addresses for security, fraud prevention, diagnostics, and service stability purposes.


e) Non-Personal & Technical Information

We may automatically collect technical information such as:

  • Device type and operating system
  • App version
  • Crash reports and performance metrics
  • Aggregated usage analytics

We use Firebase (by Google) for crash reporting, push notifications, and authentication. Firebase may collect device identifiers, crash diagnostics, and performance data. See Firebase Privacy for details.

We collect device push notification tokens to send you order updates, delivery status, and service-related notifications.

We use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies for essential functionality, analytics, and service improvement. These technologies are not used for cross-app tracking without your explicit consent.


f) Media Access

With your permission, we may access your device’s photo library to allow you to upload profile pictures for your account or submit images for verification or customer support purposes.


2. Use of Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and improve the Platform and Services
  • Process orders, payments, and deliveries
  • Communicate order updates and service notifications
  • Provide customer support
  • Ensure platform security and fraud prevention
  • Display promoted products, vendor listings, and brand advertisements within the Platform
  • Conduct internal analytics and service optimization
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements

Advertising & Promotions

We may display promoted products, sponsored listings, and brand logos from vendors on the Platform. These promotions are:

  • Shown within the app environment only
  • Based on in-app activity or context (such as categories or searches)
  • Not based on sensitive personal data
  • Not shared with advertisers for their independent use

You may opt out of promotional communications at any time. Transactional and service-related messages will still be sent as required.


3. Sharing of Information

a) Service Providers

We share information with trusted third-party service providers (such as delivery partners, payment processors, analytics providers, and cloud hosting services) solely to operate the Platform and provide Services. These parties are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for authorized purposes.


b) Legal & Safety Obligations

We may disclose information when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the Platform, or the public.


c) Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of the transaction, subject to applicable data protection laws.


d) International Data Transfers

Your data may be stored or processed outside Nepal using secure cloud providers. Such transfers are protected using appropriate technical and contractual safeguards to ensure data protection standards comparable to those in Nepal.


4. Security Measures

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. While we strive to protect your data, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.


5. Data Retention & Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from within the app. Upon account deletion:

Your account will be deactivated and you will no longer be able to log in.

Your locally stored app data (preferences, cached content) will be cleared from your device.

Please note that certain data may be retained after account deletion for the following purposes:

Order and transaction records (including delivery details and payment history) are retained as required by applicable tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations in Nepal.

Wallet, loyalty, and cashback records are retained for financial reconciliation and audit purposes.

User-generated content (such as product reviews) may remain on the Platform in anonymized or non-identifiable form.

If you wish to request complete erasure of all personal data beyond what is automatically processed during account deletion, you may contact us at apps@railar.net. Such requests will be processed within 30 days, subject to applicable legal retention requirements.


6. Third-Party Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to review their policies separately.


7. User Content & Reviews

If you post reviews or feedback publicly on the Platform, such content may be visible to other users. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and use such content for Platform-related purposes.


8. Your Rights & Choices

You may access, update, correct, or delete your personal information through your account settings. You may withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time, subject to service limitations. You can email apps@railar.net to request deletion of your personal data, subject to the retention terms described in Section 5.


9. Products & Services

  • Karayo displays product images, names, prices, weights, and basic details. Detailed product descriptions may not always be available.
  • Product images are for reference only and may differ from the actual item delivered. Always check the physical product packaging for accurate information, including ingredients, nutrition, usage, and warnings.
  • Any warranty or guarantee on a product is provided by the manufacturer. For quality or manufacturing issues, please contact the manufacturer directly using the details on the product packaging.
  • Karayo is not responsible for manufacturing defects or product performance.
  • Products available on the Platform are offered on a business-to-consumer (B2C) basis and are intended for personal use only, not for resale.
  • Karayo reserves the right to add, remove, or modify products and categories on the Platform at its discretion.
  • Service availability and delivery areas may vary and are subject to change based on operational feasibility.

10. Prices of Products

The prices of each Product may vary due to various factors, and you can check the price on the Platform before placing an order.

By placing an order, you agree to pay the prices mentioned therein.

All Products listed on the Platform will be sold in Nepalese Rupees (NPR), either at Maximum Retail Price (MRP) (inclusive of all taxes) or at a discounted price unless otherwise specified.

Prices may be modified from time to time.
